While John was in the hospital recently , I would check in and with the same stupid question, How are you? The answered varied from "awful how are you ?" or " Im not dead yet but Im working on it" .I tried not to ask THAT question anymore but was even less successful with my alternate question. Since John was an avid reader but due to his cateracts was unable to and the fact that he didn't have a TV in his room nor did he want one, I asked "can I get you anything , you must be bored".John then relayed the story of his mother telling his sister Marcy when she said she was bored that "boredom is a self inflicted wound and was just a childish excuse for not using your brain to think of things to do". As he was just on the sidelines during this conversation , he said it made perfect sence and he would not allow himself to be bored.I visited him shortly after this conversation and he was full of gossip about the drama's occuring in the room with the other three occupants, he was also snacking on his "special" muffins that were sent by a friend from the island ,part of his regular care package. Who needs TV?
Last week I tried to "encourage" my family to post to this blog. I sent them all TERRIBLE pictures of themselves and threatened to post them here if they didn't post their own. Although they all responded soon enough to my threat, nobody has updated this blog yet. To be fair, this sort of thing is easier for me to do so I'll give a general update on the family. I won't post those nasty pictures just yet, because I'm sure there are some of me floating around and I don't want to start a war. You may remember there are 6 kids, in order of age: Mark, Colleen, Paul, David, Kathleen & Kevin. Hearing it listed like that reminds me of being called for dinner. :) Mom and Dad (Maureen and Al) are both in good health and living in that big house you remember in Ancaster. The house and property itself would look very different to many of you as my Dad's projects have really transformed the place. There are no more big willow trees (and no more treehouse!) :( ...
