I found the 1901 census for Ontario and have a
John Ford born 9 May 1868
Catharine - wife
James F Ford- born 31 Oct, 1896
Dan A. Ford - born 15 Nov 1897
Edward Ford - born 21 Mar 1899
Mary Ford - born 9 Jan 1901
at this rate she would have 16 children in no time flat. LOL
Will keep looking.

Records weren't very precise back then. Even my birth certificate says Pauline! When I told my mom that, she said those frenchmen that isn't even an Irish name!!
Colleen that is so funny. When my mother applied for her birthcertificate her first name was Patricia. It seems the Doctor took it upon himself to name her. He didn't bother to tell the parents. Maybe he thought they had run out of names. When mom got the certificate she said she didn't. know who she was anymore.
My dad also said (when I called him about this) that Father Dan did Aunt Maureens baptism and named her Julia Rita Maureen. Julia was their great grandmother. Rita was a family friend who was the sister of Bishop Ryan. This was for her baptism, who knows who filled in her birth certificate and said Patricia.
About the names, he said it was common for the parish priest to fill in the name of the child on the baptismal certificate, often his choice. That is why there is so much confusion as the parents filled out the papers the way they wanted but the form the priest filled out was often the one used for official records.
