Ramblings about Aunt Colleen

Remembering Aunt Colleen...

You know Pat, Kathy and Rob, Your mom practiced on Loretta and I before she had you - in fact before she was married. I trust we did a good job training her. She was awesome and you must miss her incredibly. Along with Aunt Nora and Aunt Maureen, they were our primary care givers when we were at Granddaddys'.

One of the things that comes to mind is her response if someone said something was funny, she wanted to know: "Funny Ha-Ha or Funny Queer"? She had quite the sence of humor. I suppose her kids inherited it. I can still see and hear her laugh in my mind. She also used to always say: "Quick, quick like a bunny" - In retrospect of course she was not the originator of these sayings, but they always remind me of her.

I inherited her technical ability. Its taken me a few years to figure out the TV remote. And now I'm conquering blogging. I've also been told I look like her (its the white hair) - some of us are just lucky eh Rob?

Blogging is a little more complicated than blabbing, but if I can do it so can the rest of you out there. Even with Pat's directions, I still had to phone him and he walked me through it without even a hint of condensation. We've got an incredible family and a very easy and convenient way to say in touch, so lets hear from the rest of the Barrys, Benningers, Bochslers, Corsinis, Fords, Gallaghers, Mathews,

Uncle Ed and Aunt Jackie:
I remember living with your families too of course, but I meant when we were actually at Granddaddy's house, Aunts Colleen, Maureen and Nora were our primary care givers. Don't think for a minute that we could ever forget out months and years spent with you.

I think Vera that you and Mom had similar dispositions and yes white hair is a sign of good luck. I'm just waiting patiently for it to kick in.

I had forgotten "Quick as a bunny." She would say it to me as an adult.

I wonder how many generations back those expressions come from. I say "Quick like a bunny" to my kids today. And then they hop as they run. Very cute. I use a modernized version of the other expression - now it's "Funny STRANGE" instead of "funny QUEER".

Ah yes - the looks I get at the office for using my my mom's favourite sayings...

"If I don't see you through the week I'll see you through the window." Huh??
"Good O'"
"He has more dollars than sense"
AND
"I'll kill you if I have to"

No wait the last one was my dad's...

Bochsler Family Update

Last week I tried to "encourage" my family to post to this blog. I sent them all TERRIBLE pictures of themselves and threatened to post them here if they didn't post their own. Although they all responded soon enough to my threat, nobody has updated this blog yet. To be fair, this sort of thing is easier for me to do so I'll give a general update on the family. I won't post those nasty pictures just yet, because I'm sure there are some of me floating around and I don't want to start a war. You may remember there are 6 kids, in order of age: Mark, Colleen, Paul, David, Kathleen & Kevin. Hearing it listed like that reminds me of being called for dinner. :) Mom and Dad (Maureen and Al) are both in good health and living in that big house you remember in Ancaster. The house and property itself would look very different to many of you as my Dad's projects have really transformed the place. There are no more big willow trees (and no more treehouse!) :(

In the beginning when we could all fit it one room ...
